Implementing the Foundation Phase in Years 1 and 2: Planning for Children’s Learning

Objectives

Course participants will have the opportunity to:

• Consider planning within the context of the Foundation Phase
• Identify the key aspects of planning for an enabling learning environment
• Review examples of a more flexible approach to planning
• Consider an appropriate balance between child initiated and adult led learning and the on-going need for discrete teaching
• Acquire practical tips to ensure that planning is manageable and realistic
• Consider the interrelated processes of observation, assessment and planning in Years 1 and 2
