This course is suitable for all teachers and teaching assistants who wish to gain an informed and realistic view of how we can best support children on the autistic spectrum. It offers teachers an insight into the condition and answers those difficult questions. There will be an opportunity to consider case studies, talk with other professionals and gain perspective from the child’s, the family’s and the school’s point of view. Simply, ‘a must’ for all teachers.
 

Objectives

Course participants will have the opportunity to:


• Consider essential background information regarding ASD
• Reflect upon the implications of ASD for learning
• Gather ideas for planning an environment to support learners with ASD
• Gain an insight into the parents’ perspective
• Be inspired by ‘tried and tested’ teaching ideas
• Gain confidence in their role in supporting a vulnerable group of learners
