Are you looking for tried and tested methods of getting your children to become great thinkers? This course will offer teachers examples of the types of investigations which encourage children to work together more effectively by developing their ability to process information and gives credence to their reasoning and evaluation skills.

Objectives

Course participants will have the opportunity to:


• Consider investigations which encourage children to work together more effectively
• Explore how children develop their ability to process information and develop the skills of reasoning and evaluation
• Gain a deeper understanding of how different learning styles impact on thinking and problem solving
• Develop strategies that empower children to articulate ideas and communicate them clearly to others
• Consider how children become good listeners
• Identify methods/situations in which children are able to ‘agree to disagree’ - the notion of consensus
• Evaluate success and suggest ways to improve group problem solving in everyday classroom situations
