• Reflect on what is really being asked for in an advertisement
• Consider the essential points of an impressive curriculum vitae
• Make the connection between the person specification and the written application
• Write a personal statement with bite, that answers the job description
• Consider and rehearse responses to a number of interview questions
• Understand the interview process from the other side of the table
