A Toxic Childhood

Objectives

The course will give participants the opportunity to:
• consider how toxic childhood has become and the impact it has on children;
• undertstand how, as educators, we can contribute to detoxing childcare and education particularly in relation to issues of attachment and communication;
• examine aspects of free-flow play as well as speaking, listening and learning; and
• consider the statement ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ and how practitioners can work with parents and others to create ‘authoritative communities’ that can flourish.
