Description

The Foundation Phase promotes first hand, experiential learning. Where better to start than maximising the potential of your school grounds and local community as a resource for learning? This course will help you uncover the potential of your unique context and open up a new world of learning.

Objectives

Course participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore the potential of their own school site and community context
  • Understand how first hand, everyday experiences can contribute to developing ‘Contexts for Learning’ with children
  • Identify a range of entry points for learners through which preferred learning styles and interests are respected and nurtured
  • Consider how the environment can support the development of skills and open the door to the unexpected
  • Reflect on the close relationship between active learning and skill development
  • Share tips and ideas to take back to the classroom and start the next day!
