Creating, Imagining and Representing

Description

Children are creative and imaginative. All the elements used in the creative process are natural and inborn for children. When children have uninhibited imaginative thinking, they don't focus on an expected outcome or answer, instead they represent their thinking and ideas in unique and original ways. The possibilities are endless. This course explores opportunities and conditions that promote and facilitate the creative process. Examples of expressing and representing learning in exciting ways will be shared on the day.

Objectives

Course participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore what imagination is and why it is important
  • Consider the dimensions of creativity
  • Explore a theme through creative, imaginative and hands-on experiences
  • Consider ways in which we can stimulate children’s imagination through environmental provision both indoors and outside
  • Focus on the role of the adult in nurturing children’s imaginations and creativity
  • Take away a range of exciting practical ideas for stimulating children’s imagination and creative thinking
