Questions, Questions, Questions!

Description

‘Enquiry based learning is acknowledged as the most significant pedagogy of the 21st century - motivating and rewarding for both teachers and pupils.’Lesley Snowball

This approach demands more of the skilful adult in terms of effective questioning and allowing the learner the time and space needed to develop their ideas. This course focuses on the ways in which the adults can scaffold the learning without restricting it. It will include a range of practical techniques and strategies to help you follow children’s interests and fascinations.

Objectives

Course participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a clear understanding of what is meant by ‘experiential, enquiry based learning’
  • Explore the relationship between effective questioning and enquiry based learning
  • Experience a variety of engaging contexts and strategies used in developing thinking skills
  • Reflect on the challenges that this approach presents to adults and children and ways to overcome them
