More Able and Talented

Description

Recent reports from Estyn have identified that 20% of learners can be considered as more able and talented. During this course, teachers and teaching assistants will learn how to identify and support more able and talented pupils. We will explore practical ideas for adapting existing classroom practice to ensure that pupils are constantly being stretched and challenged whilst remaining motivated, engaged and on task.

Objectives

Course participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore ways of identifying pupils who can be described as more able and talented
  • Consider appropriate learning experiences that provide sufficient challenge for more able and talented children
  • Reflect on strategies that support more able and talented children in becoming independent learners
  • Explore the benefits of group work in supporting and developing the special talents that this group exhibit
  • Network with colleagues who also have an interest in this area

Target Audience

All Primary Teachers, Practitioners, Senior Leaders and SENCOs/ALNCOs
