This practical course gives teachers the opportunity to use their own laptops with free software to create podcasts. If you would like to learn how to do more with ICT than the children you teach – then this is the course for you! Podcatsing is a great way to develop literacy skills and enables pupils to practice speaking and listening alongside the development of ICT skills. No previous knowledge of podcasting is required. It’s a fun, fast paced and enjoyable day that will empower and motivate teachers of all levels of experience.

Course participants will have the opportunity to:
• Review the hardware and software needed to podcast
• Explore the process of preparing a podcast
• Consider the link between podcasting and improving literacy skills
• Develop their awareness of how sound files work by editing and combining sound files
• Develop jingles, idents, and incidental music in podcasts
• Learn how to link to outside broadcasts using portable equipment
• Make use of broadcasting and RSS feeds as starting points for children’s learning
