BUILDING BLOCKS

Building Blocks® The New Planning, Monitoring and Assessment Tool


Building Blocks® contains more than 250 pre-written, editable rich tasks that are linked to the new Programmes of Study for Languages, Literacy and Communication and Mathematics and Numeracy.

Each rich task is accompanied by a clear teaching outline and is matched to the Statements of Expectation for a specific year group, thus ensuring clear progression and high expectations.

Rich tasks have clear links across the curriculum as well as links to real life. This guarantees high levels of engagement for learners. Online resources that are intended to save teachers’ time are available to enhance the rich tasks.

The online portal has a ‘Create New’ facility that allows teachers to plan their own rich tasks, discrete teaching and cross-curricular themes in a time-efficient manner. The ability to add differentiated skills from across the curriculum at the click of a button is also a huge time saving opportunity for teachers.

Subject Leaders and Senior Leaders can easily monitor curriculum coverage of any subject by class, year group and phase. This tool enables you to see which skills have been planned, which have been covered and which still need to be included in the curriculum offer to learners.

Most recently, Building Blocks® has an added assessment facility allowing teachers to show the link between planning, teaching and assessment. Individual and group reports can be created for learners showing their achievement against the Statements of Expectation.

For Foundation Phase learners, assessments can be used to show progress against the Foundation Phase Outcomes as well as the Compact and Full Profile. Key Stage Two learners can be measured against National Curriculum Levels and Statements of Expectation for the relevant year group.
