Mick Waters
After teaching in Nottingham, two headships in Cumbria and a spell in teacher training at Lancaster, Mick Waters became involved in national school improvement work. He became Chief Education Officer for Manchester in 2002. Innovative projects popped up all over the city, from Manchester Mondays - on which council staff taught in schools - to school attendance lotteries in which pupils stood to win a cash prize if they were present when their name was drawn. In 2005, Mick became Director of Curriculum at QCA. Since leaving QCA he has continued to inspire and motivate the teaching profession through conferences and school visits. He was instrumental in establishing ‘The Curriculum Foundation.’
