Preparing for a School Estyn Inspection

 

The Learning Partnership is running a course, The Brown Envelope, which is aimed at schools who will have an Estyn inspection in the next 24 months. This course will be delivered through the medium of English on Thursday 5th February and Welsh on Friday 6th February.

The course focuses on the following objectives

• Further your understanding of the Common Inspection Framework
• Consider meaningful evidence which will support your self-evaluation judgments
• Give consideration to the process of inspection
• Develop strategies for responding to probing questions
• Discuss your ‘hopes and fears’ regarding inspection

The course is aimed at Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers, Foundation Phase Coordinators and teachers.

The course will also look at a Case Study of an Early Years Setting that has been teaching The Foundation Phase philosophy and methodolgy. The Case Study will look at how the setting achieved Grade 1 in all Key Questions and in all Areas of Learning from the current inspection framework.

Yr Amlen Frown - Paratoi ar gyfer Arolygiad. This course is led by Jill Harrison and will be deliverd through the medium of Welsh. This course is delivered through the medium of English on Thursday 5th February.

Nurturing the Young Mathematician: How to make mathematical learning relevant to a young child’s life. Course participants will have the opportunity to: reflect on how to make mathematical learning relevant to a young child’s life, consider the learning theories that should influence our approach to the teaching of mathematical development, identify the dispositions and skills that children require to become confident learners of mathematics anf gain a wealth of practical ideas for nurturing young mathematicians.
