Conference with Prof. Dr. Ferre Laevers at The Vale of Glamorgan Hotel 'Working at Quality in Early Childhood Education'

 

The Learning Partnership is holding a special one day conference with Prof. Dr. Ferre Laevers at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel on Thursday 26th November. The title of the conference is 'Working at Quality in Early Childhood Education' where delegates will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify the characteristics of well-being and involvement in children and how to assess them
  • Consider key pointers for raising well-being and involvement in children and the critical role of the adult
  • Consider the impact of well-being and involvement on deep level learning
  • Explore how a process-orientated child monitoring system can be implemented
  • Develop ways of supporting children with social/emotional behaviours
  • Reflect on their practice and identify ways forward

Prof. Dr. Ferre Laevers is a member of staff at the Department of Education, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) and Director of the Centre for Experiential Education. Most of his work is linked to the innovative project Experiential Education of which he was the founding father more than 30 years ago. He is the co-founder of the European Early Childhood Education Research Association and held its presidency from 2005 until 2007.

The conference will focus on quality education within the primary phase paying special attention to experiential learning within the Foundation Phase.

Julia Moons will support Prof. Dr. Ferre Laevers during the day. She has been involved with experiential projects since 1980. As a preschool teacher she was involved in several action research projects and has made a major contribution to the development of practice that supports well-being and involvement in children. As a senior member of the Leuven EXE-team she supports several developmental projects and the international dissemination of Experiential Education.
