Final few weeks before courses end for this term

The Learning Partnership is now delivering courses from their purpose built training and resource centre for Early Years and primary school practitioners. This is Wales' first purpose built training and resource centre specifically designed for primary school practitioners but especially practitioners in The Foundation Phase. Courses have been well attended and there are still a few places left on courses for the remainder of this term. A Toxic Childhood delivered by Sue Palmer is proving to be tremendously popular though there are some places left. Teachers, headteachers and LSA's who have attended courses have been thoroughly impressed, not only with the quality and delivery of the speakers, but on the venue and the exceptional resource centre.

Resource Centre and Coffee Shop now open

The imaginatively stocked resource centre and coffee shop are now open. The resource centre is an Aladdin's Cave of creativity and imagination for teachers involved with The Foundation Phase in Wales. The resource centre is open to the general public by popular demand. Saturdays are proving to be a great day out for parents and children. Children can play with some of the items on display while parents support them. Parents can enjoy a coffee or soft drink in our coffee shop along with a choice of hot and cold snacks including, soup, paninis, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone involved with early years whether it be from an educational perspective or home.

Foundation Phase Courses
Courses available to the end of the winter term are: Real Reasons to Write, Mathematics and Numeracy, and A Toxic Childhood. You can book places through our website at www.tlpwales.co.uk To book a course, just select the course you would like to attend, proceed to checkout, enter your details and then an invoice will be sent to the address given.

Courses for the Spring Term are now posted on the website.

Schools Using The Training and Resource Centre For INSET Days

The Learning Partnership has created an Early Years Centre of Excellence for teachers in Wales. As well as attracting well known experts in early childhood education, both the Directors Wendy Thomas and Glenda Dudley deliver courses aimed at teaching within the Foundation Phase. Schools and settings have already used the centre for INSET days.

The Friday before half term The Ely and Caerau Children's Centre Cardiff brought 24 staff for INSET to the training centre. Glenda and Wendy delivered a course tailored made for the centre focusing on boys' writing and other educational issues within the Foundation Phase. Tycroes School have also had INSET for LSA's at The Learning Partnership after half term.

The Training Centre has already been booked by schools and settings for INSET in the Spring Term. Several dates have already gone so if you as a school or your school cluster would like a course specially designed to suit a requirement either within the Foundation Phase or part of your School Improvement Plan, then contact The Learning Partnership.

The Centre has been booked for two days in March for teachers in The British Forces Overseas Schools (BFOS) as part of their Early Years Professional Development.
