Spring Courses Out Now!Courses at The Learning Partnership are finalised for the Spring and Summer Terms. A full list of the Spring Term courses are available on the website which includes information on course content and pen portraits for each of the course providers. The programme of Summer Courses will be available on our website from Monday 15th December. Our next brochure for Spring and Summer 2009, will be sent to all schools and settings involved with Early Years, the Foundation Phase and Primary Education in Wales, during the first week of January 2009. If you would like the brochure to go to a named person in your school/setting for example, the Foundation Phase Leader or INSET Coordinator, please email The Learning Partnership with a contact name for the school/setting. Otherwise, our brochure will automatically be addressed to the headteacher. If you would like your own copy, or you know of a colleague or friend who may like to receive a copy of our brochure, please forward all details to us. Courses are already being booked for the next two terms. To book courses log on to www.tlpwales.co.uk or telephone us on 0845 1800 236 (Local rates apply). School INSET Tailored to Schools/SettingsMany schools and settings have already held their INSET days here with us. These training days have provided schools with quality training, team time for reflection away from the day-to-day demands of school, as well as a nutritous and mouth-watering two course lunch in a comfortable, professional environment. Practitioners have taken the opportunity to browse the Resource Centre which is organised into contexts for learning. Our resources are disaplayed and arranged to provide ideas for stimulating quality play for children. Feedback on INSET events has been excellent. In the New Year we will begin our Spring Term Programme by welcoming 32 teachers from Gladstone Primary School in The Vale of Glamorgan, and ending the term with a visit from 40 teachers from British Forces Schools in Germany. We look forward to many busy and inspiring days in between with courses, meetings and networking events. The Learning Partnership has received several requests from schools and settings to hold their INSET days at the training centre. Training for INSET days are tailored to the school/setting's specific needs and ties in closely with school/setting's improvement plan and/or a particular focus of their choice. INSET days include full use of the training centre as well as support from two trainers for the day, plus all catering and refreshments. If your school or your school cluster would like a course specially designed to suit a requirement either within the Foundation Phase, or as part of your School Improvement Plan, then contact The Learning Partnership on 0845 1800 236 (Local rates apply) through the website at www.tlpwales.co.uk or email Anna at info@tlpwales.co.uk |

'A Toxic Childhood' a Tremendous SuccessThe course 'A Toxic Childhood' was a tremendous success. 25 Headteachers, Foundation Phase Co-ordinators, advisors and teachers came from all over Wales for this inspirational and very informative course. This course was led by Sue Palmer who has written over 200 books, TV programmes and software packages for children and teachers, and acted as an independent consultant to the DfES, National Literacy Trust, Basic Skills Agency, numerous educational publishers and the BBC. The course focussed on the ways in which childhood impacts on children's learning and how as educators we can contribute to detoxing childcare and education, particularly in relation to issues of attachment, self-esteem and communication. Sue Palmer has already been scheduled to take another course at The Learning Partnership's Training and Resource Centre next year once she has completed her next book 21st Century Boys.
