Training and development opportunities for practitioners working in Early Years and the Foundation Phase

We continue to offer a wide range of quality training and development opportunities for practitioners working in Early Years and the Foundation Phase. However, in response to suggestions made by schools and settings around Wales, we are pleased include additional courses over the next two terms for Key Stage 2, Special Needs and some courses through the medium of Welsh. There really is something for everyone!

Successful First Term

Our first term was certainly a busy one with more than 250 practitioners attending training with us. We would also like to take this opportunity of extending our thanks for the numerous messages of support and many positive comments about the work we are undertaking. It is always a pleasure to welcome practitioners to our training Centre, to get to know you and to work together to improve our practice in schools and settings. We look forward to another busy term and to meeting practitioners from across Wales and beyond.

The first three courses for the Spring Term are:

Following Children’s Interests: Course led by Wendy Thomas and Glenda Dudley with a focus on what inspires and motivates young learners. This course offers great starting points as well as hints and tips for really getting to know your children.

Documenting Children’s Learning: Course led by Wendy Thomas and Glenda Dudley. This course will consider appropriate strategies for observing young children in line with WAG guidelines. Packed with ideas and practical tips for anyone working with children.

Creative Approaches to Literacy in KS2: Course led by Deborah Nicholson language and literacy consultant. This course will explore ways to extend the literacy curriculum, planning blocks of work around strong well chosen books.
